Description

In recent years, China’s militarization of the South China Sea, aggressive military actions, coupled with its Belt and Road initiatives have posed a major threat to U.S. interests and a free and open Indo-Pacific. As a result, the United States has engaged in a variety of tools, including diplomacy, economic statecraft, and military posture to counter China’s rising influence in the region.  This talk will discuss the geopolitical and military situation in the region, and some of the ways that the U.S. military is responding to this threat.
