Rear Adm. Gary Rosholt, the son of a career U.S. Air Force officer, was commissioned through the Navy Reserve Officers Training Corps program at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He completed Basic Underwater Demolition / SEAL (BUD/S) training in February 1980.
Tours in Naval Special Warfare include operational assignments with Underwater Demolition Team 12, SEAL Team 1, and Special Boat Unit 20. Rosholt’s shore duty assignment was with the Chief of Naval Technical Training where he also completed his Master of Science degree in Operations Management from the University of Arkansas.
